Jam is the creation of husband and wife team, Tim and Michelle Gray. The idea for Jam came about when Michelle observed her own children being entertained and educated as they watched the quality Australian TV groups for kids. Inspired by the positive impact that groups such as these have on children, Michelle wondered about using such a medium to teach kids about Jesus.

So, she began to write!

Michelle’s background is Primary Music Education and coupled with the fact she had 2 boys under the age of three - she was in familiar territory. Thus, songs such as ‘Jump and Shout’ and ‘Me- God Made Me’ were written and over time, the rest of the songs featured on the debut CD and DVD were completed. Michelle’s aim was to use the contemporary style of the secular groups to help bring Children’s Ministry into the 21st Century.

Michelle is the lead singer in the show while husband Tim (who is also a trained music teacher and has arranged and recorded all the music for the songs) plays the character of animal ‘expert’ and puppeteer, Dr Doolots. The desire to see not only his own but many other children follow Jesus coupled with a lifelong love of performing ensured his support of Michelle’s vision.

Jam was launched at the 2002 Australian Gospel Music Festival. This was followed by the the launch of Jam’s first CD (2003) and video (2005). Jam was then the two performers featured on the DVD, Michelle and Halina with Tim assuming the role of Dr Doolots.

Tim and Michelle were recently asked to help with the Music of their Church’s Children’s Department and since taking on this role, Michelle has written Praise and Worship songs especially for children to sing. Her aim was to write lyrics that are easy for kids to understand without watering down the concept of worshipping God.

Tim and Michelle are now working on the next bunch of songs for the 2nd DVD which will be a combination of Praise and Worship, Christmas and teaching songs.
