Jesus, Lover of my Soul

1    Jesus, lover of my soul,
      Let me to your presence fly,
      While the gathering waters roll,
      While the tempest still is high.
      Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
      Till the storm of life is past;
      Safe into the haven, guide
      And receive my soul at last.

2    Other refuge have I none,
      All my hope in you I see:
      Never leave me all alone;
      Still support and comfort me.
      All my trust on you is stayed,
      All my needs to you I bring:
      Cover my defenceless head
      With the shadow of your wing.

3    You a-lone are all I desire,
      For more than all in you I find:
      You raise the fallen and you cheer the faint,
      You heal the sick and lead the blind.

4    Plenteous grace with you is found,
      Grace to wash away my sin:
      Let the healing streams abound;
      Make and keep me pure within.
      Living Fountain, now impart
      All your life and love to me;
      Spring for ever in my heart,
      Rise to all eternity.

5    Just and holy is your name,
      You cleanse me from unrighteousness;
      And when I'm false and full of sin and shame,
      You are full of truth and grace.
