Come Holy Spirit

1    Come, Holy Spirit, come, inspire,

      enlighten with celestial fire:

      and to each receiving heart,

      your sevenfold gifts, we pray, impart.

2    Come and anoint us from above

      with comfort, life and fire of love,

      and with your eternal light

      break through the dullness of our sight.

3    Anoint and cheer each sorrowed face

      with the abundance of your grace;

      fears remove, give peace at home,

      where you are guide no ill can come.

4    Teach us to know the Father, Son,

      and you, the eternal Three in One,

      through the ages all along

      may we sing out this endless song:

5    'Praise to your eternal merit,

      Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.' (x2)
